Oasis seeks to promote healthy aging through lifelong learning, active lifestyles and volunteer engagement. Oasis offers approximately 800 educational classes annually at over 20 sites in Bexar and Kendall Counties for people over the age of 50. Classes and workshops include evidence-based health programming - diabetes self-management education and support, chronic disease self-management education and support, A Matter of Balance:Managing Concerns About Falls, and the Arthritis Foundation Exercise Program and research based programming, Better Balance, Medication Matters, Safe at Home and various health and fitness classes for adults over the age of 50. In addition, Oasis offers classes in the Arts & Humanities, Consumer Interest, Technology, trips and travel. Oasis has approximately 285 older adult volunteers - volunteer opportunities include tutoring, office work, health fair committee, volunteer peer leaders/instructors for health and other types of courses, calling committee and more.
